Hi, Everyone,
A friend of mine named Pete who served two tours in Vietnam with the
UDT (Underwater Demolition Team) has a collection of about 300 Vintage
Posters and lobby cards from the 1930's to the 1970's (mostly from the 50's).
There are some really sought after titles for collectors of this type of
material (Frogmen, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and many more) plus lots of
pieces in which Deep Sea diving (hard hat) suits appear plus Scuba Diving
graphics as well. Pete's wife, Jackie, called me and asked if I could possibly
help in getting her a fair price for the collection. Hey, Pete is one of
the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet who put his life on the line for
our country in Vietnam and has as a result paid quite a price---more than
most of us could ever imagine.
If anyone on the MoPo list is aware of anyone who collects this genre
of material, I'd greatly appreciate it if you'd direct them to Pete's wife,
Jackie or his son, Colin, who are both trying to get a fair price for
Pete's collection. I'm sure they'd both prefer to sell the entire collection
as
a whole rather then have some dealer cherry pick the best titles off the
top and leave them the rest to sell individually or in small lots, Jackie
has spent the last 2 months trying to find the best, most efficent means to
put this plan into action---she and Colin have done their homework, so to
speak, so they aren't a couple of rubes who can be taken advantage of (which
is why I'm posting this message on MoPo because over the years I've found
that overall the best and most honest movie poster collectors and dealers are
on this list).
Both Jackie and Colin would deeply appreciate any help they can receive
in selling Pete's collection and acquiring as much for the 300-odd pieces
as they can.
