For those that live in the LA area I have an opportunity for some
inexpensive frames. acquired way to many wood frames.
Mainly I have a heavy duty 6 sheet frame that has a great provenance. It
was built by Pablo Santillan, a well known custom framer in the LA Area and
one of the few that builds large frames. He has framed for a number of
Mopo members and is a great craftsman. This particular 6 sheet frame has a
large black wood frame and has extra durable back struts (so frame isn't
wavy or floppy) It was made for the late Louis Leithold for his 2001: A Space
Odyssey 6 sheet that he loved. Why this frame especially sturdy is that it
was built to suspended from the back from a track in the ceiling at
Louis's home to block sliding glass patio doors the he wanted to darken his
room
to watch movies/television. Thank you that was my idea and it was amazing
how perfectly it worked for him. The Plexi is a quarter of an inch thick
so decidedly durable and due to thickness quite protective of fading but it
is not UV grade since to special order that plexi is a fortune. When the
Leithold auction took place at Bonhams/Butterfields the poster was offered
framed.
A very popular Mopo member in Austin won the auction but didn't want to
pay to ship framed, so I rented a truck and picked up poster and frame,
carefully removed 6 sheet and stored framed safely in my garage. Frame has
remained safely stored and is in all but pristine condition. To presently
frame a 6 sheet is close to 1500.00 or 1800.00 if you can even find someone
to do so. I am offering this supremely well constructed frame for $500
but buyer is responsible for transportation. I also have a number of
framed posters with UV plexi for French and Italian 2 Foglio again in simple
black wood frames for $150- $200 again built by Pablo. Anyone interested
can contact me directly.
