Mopoers, Bruce's auction appears to have a first British release Dragnet quad. This version uses a combination of photos and illustration and is more colorful than the other version, which I own. (I'm assuming my version is a re-release poster, but I'm not certain.) The re-release poster is a little odd in that the photos have been replaced by what appear to be stylized pen and ink illustrated versions of the photos. I'm quite certain that these illustrations were not simply created by turning up the contrast on the photo or using some other automated method. It appears that an artist was actually hired to re-create the photographic images. The re-release poster is also less colorful and some of the images have been omitted. I actually prefer the re-release poster. I know that a lot of re-release posters are similar to the original except with fewer colors, but is it common to replace photographs with illustrations based on the original photographs?
