congratulations David.
you are now a "twit"

** I recently joined Twitter, which in my view, is only a "fad" --
even though it's grown to about 10 million subscribers. I find it
very annoying, akin to instant messaging limited to 140
characters. However, amazingly, I've found people that had fallen
through the cracks at other places like -- to me -- the overly
narcissistic Facebook. Though I expect Twitter will "twitter out"
quickly, a small group of people do discuss posters, esp. their
market values, e.g., an opinion that the "Gilda" style B to be
offered by Heritage with a $20-25K estimate -- might be $10-20K too
low compared to prices for the more oft-seen "This Gun for Hire" and
"Out of the Past". One site just started is at:

** Advice -- if you do this -- keep your cell phone alert settings
OFF -- and have 'em sent instead by e-mail into a separate e-mail
folder like I've done for years for MoPo posts. After just 10 min.
of getting stupid "tweets" from people with nothing to say, I
couldn't take it; I prefer getting them on the web on my own
time. Not good for the office. Twitter is best for concise
breaking news from your fav news sites, which ALL use it.
** I understand some of these sites help find jobs in a slumping
economy, but some of its users (not all) -- esp. those who use
Facebook -- in my view, are guilty of self-absorption taken to the
extreme. Sorry if I've offended Facebook users -- but my criticism
is more aimed at users who feel compelled to explain -- in "cosmic"
detail -- why blue is a good "karma" color, why new-age mystic stuff
is "mind-blowing, man" or why their yoga mats are more important
than refrigerators. -d.
