I sometimes really miss the days when people (collectors) used to just
staple gun or thumb tack a three sheet or six sheet to the wall, and then
carefully remove the staples after they got tired of it (some great and big
posters are exhausting on the eye after a while) and replaced it in the same
way with something else.
One of the most famous of all collectors used to do this when he lived in
the East and before moving West. Even the inside of cupboards had lobby
cards thumb-tacked inside them, and the bathroom had all the Val Lewton one
sheets thumb-tacked to the wall ("be careful not to splash around in the
bath" was the word of warning there.....

I think a number of poster collectors have dreams of having a giant 3sheet
or 6sheet hanging in their office or family room etc. I would love to have
a 6 sheet mad mad world framed in my office (i.e. one whole wall). The
cost of linenbacking and framing a large format poster is daunting. I know
that when I buy a 3-sheet or 6-sheet, I never have immediate plans for it.
I assume that somewhere down the line I will linen/frame it and display it.
But I would venture to guesss that most people who buy these large posters
do nothing with them. They sit in a closet somewhere.

I am currently auctioning three-sheets and six-sheets so of course they
are on my mind!
Here are my questions:
1) I see a fair number of the three-sheets and six-sheets where they are
currently below the price of the corresponding one-sheet! Is that often
the case, and if so, why do you think this happens?
2) I sometimes hear collectors say, "I would buy three-sheets and
six-sheets, EXCEPT they are too big for my walls". But many of these
same collectors have HUNDREDS or THOUSANDS of one-sheets that sit folded
up in boxes, and are never displayed. So, if it is going to sit in a
box, what difference do they make if they are one-sheets, three-sheets
or six-sheets?
3) Some ad campaigns have three-sheets and six-sheets where they are
simply "stretched-out" versions of the one-sheets (like Forbidden
Planet), but other times the three-sheets and six-sheets have completely
different images. I think that when the three-sheets and six-sheets have
similar images to the one-sheet they should sell for somewhat more (due
to the greater size and rarity), but if they have superior images they
should sell for a lot more, and when they have inferior images (like in
the case of The Sin of Nora Moran three-sheet, which is nowhere as nice
as the one-sheet) they should sell for a lot less. What do YOU think?
