It really depends what you are looking for. Yes, if you collect high-end, rare,
and/or hard-to-find titles you will not find many bargains.

On the other hand, for some collectors it's a buyer's market. This would
primarily be people either just entering the hobby or looking for lower-end and
mid-market pieces. There's lots of stuff out there that has fallen in price and
can be had for very little.

On the OTHER hand (we're up to three hands now), it's a vicious circle. If
sellers are not getting decent or even fair prices, then they will list less
and then there's less to choose from on eBay. Witness the 1940s US posters
category: often there are fewer than 50 items listed up for auction.

Finally, if you're not finding the stuff on eBay, go directly to your nearest
(figure of speech) dealer. Check out what's on their sites, make offers. You'd
be surprised with the deals you might end up with. Or maybe you wouldn't.

See that's the difference..you started at 99 cents.and let the auctions take
care of themselves..most auctions for movie posters are no longer this way b/c
dealers do not want to lose their so-called investments and understandably so

to me ebay is dead..I used to buy about 10 good posters a year on the
site.now I really can't tell you the last time I bought a poster from this
site...it's not that I have everything I want either.just not finding the
bargains anymore

  I respectfully disagree.

Yes, ebay has changed and it will never be the same....and it IS primarily a
fixed price place for vintage movie posters.......however........no reserve
auctions are still alive and well. We just finished over 160 no reserve
auctions this past week......all started at 99 cents.....and almost all of them
performed at or above our expectations.......even in this down
economy........which seems to be turning as we speak.
