Folks I want to share a moment I just had the other noight that touched me.
I went to hear a friends band ( ragtime jazz Dixieland ) and while
there they announced Garth was turning 96 on June 12th....
Well then we all clapped and the family offered some Birthday cake.. so
a friend and I went over and shook Garths hand and wished him well.
Then I asked .. " what would you tell us that allowed you to have such
a long life?"
He said.... " Try to help as many people as You can " He said he still
volunteerts each week feeding people
he calls his children.. at a methodist Church.. like 50-60 people that
need a meal.
Then I asked what did you do as a Job.... he said when he was 16 he
delivered Coal in a 1919 Truck
then he delivered Ice ( before refrigerators)
So here he was 96 and looked to me like 75 and had a firm handshake
and was sharp as a tack...
he saw Babe Ruth and Casey Stengle play Ball.... was through ww1 and
wwll and the depression and You name it a walking history book.
Yet he said he lived in his home, had money in the bank and was standing
in a place celebrateing his Birthday at 96..
when he blew out the candles he wished for one more year of life....
Old people amaze me and I think are a great resource that has been not
realized in current films and pop culture enough laltely. this Guy had
so much character in his etes and face it was like Norman Rockwell
sculpted him !
It was inspireing.
