Over 25 years ago, Igor Edelmen here in L.A. was the first
linenbacker/restorer that I can recall. Looking back, his restoration
techniques were
fairly primitive (although they seemed pretty cool at the time!). Then in the
early 90's, Joe Hernandez entered the scene and restoration was taken to the
next level. Back then, I thought Joe was a genius at his
craft---brilliant. I still think so. But apparently he had a darker side that
ultimately
ruined his career. Anyway, it's my opinion that like it or not, Joe set the
restoration standard that still exists today, leaving the old techniques of
Igor Edelmen in a trail of dust. Joe had it all and threw it away, leaving
a trail of lies, deceit and thievery behind him. What a waste of a
brilliant talent. I have quite a few posters on my walls that were
linenbacked/restored by Joe in the early 90's. Back then, he had no match---he
was the
best. So very strange that 17 years later, he's a virtual pariah in the hobby.
