Clark is obviously asking Claudette where SHE buys HER lipstick on that IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT poster.
Interestingly, the Theda Bara CLEOPATRA was done as a 20 x 30 inch repro in the UK back in the very early 1970s at the same time as the repro quad for REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE was produced at a full 30x40 and is out there in such vast numbers for nearly 30 years - and I mean several thousands - that one can - knowing the scarcity of real original REBEL quads - rightly question almost any REBEL quad that shows up in auctions and on sale today. Make sure the seller - whoever it is - has a returns policy. That the repro was produced on what was standard 70s quad paper makes it even harder to spot once folded a few times and linen backed. Another concerning poster to look out for is the Belgian CASABLANCA, the smaller size. As per SOUVENIRS D'HOLLYWOOD, the first release CASABLANCA were all printed on the backs of maps (not uncommon for immediate post WW2 Belgian posters). Taking this to be true, and the book's author/publishers make a point of this in their description of the CASABLANCA poster, then one should be very cautious of linen backed examples. Backing paper and linen or not, one should still be able to make out the map back through a strong light. There is a really good reason to resist slabbing of movie memorabilia. As Ari, who deals in are coins knows, and many, many serious comics collectors I have met over the years will tell you - slabbed/graded items means absolutely nothing. If anything, it's simply a further way for incorrectly graded items, restoration and fake items to be put into the marketplace.
