There is such a fright going around now because of the Minty Whites which any
good dealer should be able to spot a mile awy and should garner as much
knowledge as possible. BTW it is not just the main stream titles (Star Wars
Trilogy, Enforcer, Scarface, Apocalypse Now, Bladerunner and others) to look
out for but Excalibur is a title that springs to mind and I would have said was
on the b or c list of titles much as I love the film it wil never be a huge
priced poster so I couldn't understand that reprint in minty white.
But getting back to the point I wanted to make.
The collectors could do a lot worse than buying the European equivalents, the
paper for these items is much harder to reproduce, also so far there have been
virtually no reproductions without being labelled as such. I know Get Carter
had some illicits from a certain shop in Soho however the paper was not right
and the poster was spotted and labelled as a fake, there have been one or two
others but not as much it seems as these minty whites. Also I don't think there
are to many posters from Europe that would demand such attention to make a
fraudelent version as seems to be the case with the Drac one sheet.
So I would of as a compromise the possibility of the European posters taing
your eye as an alternative to possibly geting ripped off over a fake.
Certainly there is the possibility of owning some spectacular art work.
