I know exactly what Kirby means.

I understand the more cynical West Coast collectors refer to these things as 
THE AISLE OF THE DEAD.

  I agree with Manola.  I don't think she was slamming the show so much as she 
was making an observation.  I've been at these shows and experienced "surreal" 
moments myself there.  You only have to see one fawning, even weeping
  fan in your life to understand what I mean.  Doesn't mean the shows aren't 
fun, they are.  And if you think most of these actors are "working" when they 
sign all this stuff, you're dreaming!  They can take home a few thousand from 
these shows.  More power to 'em.
