Hi everyone,
I'm just a relatively new collector of lobby cards. I started by collecting my cowboy western heroes e.g. Buck Jones, Tim McCoy, Ken Maynard and then I expanded my collecting to Tom Mix, Bob Steele, Tex Ritter and then, all the other cowboys from the 30's and earlier! I had to limit my collecting to title lobbies because it was getting out of hand. OK..I happened to see a real nice Tex Ritter Title Card..'Song of the Gringo' on eBay and was going to bid on it. The auction ended this morning. I thought I would bid $85 for it (the bid stood at $53 yesterday). When I looked at the card early this morning it was at $534.56! This was the winning bid. It was placed by a bidder who was a newbie on eBay (0 feedbacks) but the next highest bidder had 118 feedbacks so it appears the bids were legit. I attached the eBay item: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem <http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390122369039&ssPageName= STRK:MEWAX:IT> &item=390122369039&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Is this lunacy or am I just out of touch with reality as to prices for this card. PS I referred to Heritage archives and saw the title and 5 other cards from the picture sold for $74 this past September Can one of my MOPO friends share some insight on this? Am I missing something? One more thing, if any of you MOPO's have any western Title Cards from the 30's that you would like to find a good home with, please get in touch with me!
