in an open letter to bruce last week congratulating him on breaking his
sale record, i said it has to do with the fact he gets awesome titles and
mentioned that he has going off tonite:
ALL ABOUT EVE and the THIRD MAN............. WOW!!!
i searched for 12 years to get an unrestored ALL ABOUT EVE, which i did 5
years ago. i have it framed and hanging prominently and proudly. i paid
three times for what the poster is presently bid---and that was a fair deal
from an obscure seller. Bruce has only sold 3 of these in all his years,
and in his last sale it went for about 1,650. A different unrestored poster
he sold on his days with ebay was nealy $2,000!!!! timing is everything.
will he beat his ebay venue?
Most collectors would NEVER give up an ALL ABOUT EVE insert, although you
see the UGLY one sheet occasionally. it would be nice for a collector
to win the insert. a dealer would surely make some quick easy bucks on this
piece.
my problem with tonite's auction is that i may not be by my screen to bid
on 2 titles that i'd like to own, so i will be placing bids and hoping to
squeak through. both films are a bit obscure....that i only saw this
year....... TMC is costing me a lot!!!
