And what's even more amazing is that the woman who helped drag Ebay into
the sewer (Meg Whitman) is now running for governor of California.
Hasn't that state been through enough? FRANC

I know what you mean Rich. In the day when they thought sellers were
captives who would constantly bend over, they raised my rates 50% and I
quit.

Now they offer certain sellers 50% off for a month to get them back. If
they had simply been happy making a billion dollars a year, and not been
obsessed with making 2 billion a year, they would still have all their
sellers and a vibrant company. Instead they continue to circle the
drain.

I hear that sucking sound of a whirlpool spinning into the drainpipes

one another subject, and this is funny..

I used to sell on fleaBay under comic-art.com
in jan 2005 fleaBay pissed me off fo rthe final time and I not only
stopped listing there. I TOLD THEM TO CLOSE MY ACCOUNT!!
CLOSE IT.. TURN ME INTO A "Not a Registered user" from the one-time
powerseller that I was

even today my feedback is over 2000 with 99% positive and I have a
higher feedback # than Sean who sells regularly

so just this week I was shocked to get an email from fleaBay support
asking me if I wanted to reopen my sell account
They must be getting real desperate if that's their new mission.

this is what I have to say to them:
"Hey a*******s. You should have been paying attention in 2005.. Now yu
can drop dead, and please.. let me watch as it happens.."

The other "catch" is that you have to manually list the five items on
Ebay. I always use a bulk loader and you can't use this to take

Subject: [MOPO] eBay follies

eBay started a "customer appreciation" deal a few months ago, where
EVERY seller gets the first five auction listing with no listing fees
whatsoever! And they give you that same deal every single month! Wow!
Now you know why you see the same crappy "million dollar" listings over
and over and over, because they don't cost the "sellers" anything, since
they of course never sell. And of course it lets eBay have some "high
dollar" items, because without giving the listings free it is hard to
imagine who would list a high dollar item on eBay.

But there is a "catch" which results in sellers getting royally screwed,
and eBay making fortunes. You have to pay 8.75% on those free listings
instead of the regular "tiered" rate, with a cap of $25 per item, AND
THEY FORCE YOU INTO THIS DEAL WHETHER YOU WANT IT OR NOT, on the first
five auction items each month.

So every day, lots of sellers list expensive auction items as their
first five items of the month and only first learn they are paying a
whopping 8.75% when they get their bill. One more great way eBay
enriches itself by taking advantage of its sellers.

See
http://forums.ebay.com/db2/topic/Seller-Central/Ebay-Charged-Me/51017613
4 for a typical discussion started by a seller who was cheated by this
promotion. He will chalk it up to experience and lose $10 or so, as will
millions of other sellers.

And eBay will keep circling the drain.
