I know there are alot of people that get pulled into the Portal problem all the
time. Several years back I had a customer that was ordering a frame for an
original Gone With the Wind poster. He told me the size was about 19 1/2 x27+.
I thought it might be a trimmed half sheet but turned out to be a vertical. So,
perhaps a jumbo window card. Anyway, he said it was in rough shape and he
wanted to have it linenbacked, so he sent it to me. Turned out to be a Portal
print of the 70's rerelease artwork from GWTW.

I called him to explain that it was a Portal reproduction and worth about $5.
He had bought it from someone on Ebay who had the story that it had been their
grandmother's and was in a closet in her house since 1939. He paid $300 for it.
I told him he should return it right away. He opted to keep it, not bother with
returning it and had me drymounted it, touch it up with pencils and frame it in
my Economy frame. I'm amazed someone has that kind of money to throw away. In
his case, I know he was embarrassed that he got taken and just didn't want to
deal with it. Amazing.

remember the fraudulent CASABLANCA listing 5/6 months ago?

MOPOers reported contacting ebay days before the listing ended..

the rhetorical question: what did ebay do?
