He's not retiring...at least not completely, as he explained in a recent e-mail I received: "Thank you so much for your kind words. However, I am semi-retiring, not full time retiring. I plan to continue to dabble in buying and trading old movie memorabilia, but I have sold my business which occupied so much of my time, I never had time to smell the roses. This way I can continue doing what I love to do best without the pressures of meeting so many deadlines." So perk up, guys, Gene will still be around buying and selling....
