Channing, I think you are an example of exactly what the Academy was hoping to accomplish...increase interest and revenue for the industry (because, in the end, the Academy is just a trade organization), and increase ratings for the show (by including more films that keep the mainstream audiences engaged).

It got me out to the theatres to see all of these films (except I never saw AVATAR -- 9 out of 10 ain't bad). I enjoyed all of them and only THE BLIND SIDE struck me as overrated for this category.
