I met Corey Haim as well.

It was at a Ray Courts Show some 10 years ago. He was accompanied by his
Mom who was, or least acted as, his agent. That seemed a bit unusual, I
thought, but I figured that she was just being a "Jewish mother hen", and
what the hell, if he didn't mind it then it may keep him out of trouble.

Since Corey was born in Toronto, Canada, and his Mom it turned out is an
Israeli compatriot, just like I am, we hit it off great and the
conversation was easy. Among other things I learned that Corey's "partner
in crime", Corey Feldman, was kind of the "bad boy" between the two, since,
it was intimated, he got mixed in drugs..

I was happy then that Corey Haim had his Mom watching over him.

How ironic that so many years later I learn that Corey Haim died of drug
overdose, and his Mom, being only a few steps away, as she always was,
discovered the body and called for an ambulance..

A very sad sad ending.

I met Corey Haim during a Lost Boys video promotion in Las Vegas, late
1980s. I was very impressed by this young man and it is sad to see how his
career spiraled and ended like this. I will always remember him as Lucas
and the wheelchair-bound "boy who cried werewolf" in Silver Bullet.

RIP Corey.

Guys & Gals...in retrospect, I was coming from a place of anger regarding
the death of Corey Haim, and forgive me if I assaulted any tender
sensibilities. It's just that I have watched so many of my friends and
fellow musicians die young, old and needlessly from drugs that I just throw
up my hands in dismay and frustration at times, and sarcasm is often a
deflection for me. Personally? I've almost checked out early from the Big
Hotel at least 3 times from ODs, and you know what...it would have indeed
been a stupid way to die, and I would have left lots of sadness & wreckage
behind. I guess I was just lucky, unlike Mr. Haim.. I am so in the trenches
when it comes to drugs, I work with addicts as a musical counselor, and they
are lovely amazing people, but GOD they do dumb things to themselves. If I
seemed less than sensitive to Haim's death, it's just that I have seen too
much of it, and occasionally my brain explodes. I beg the group's pardon for
being such a seemingly insensitive dick.
Group hug?
