Ladies and Gentlemen, dear poster friends,
we cordially invite you and your friends to the opening of
BLICK RICHTUNG FILM Classic Filmposters in East and West
A Comparative Exhibition
on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 7 pm, at the Neue Kauffahrtei in Chemnitz.
Until the 1990s the movie poster was THE central element in film
advertising in both parts of Germany.
While the majority of film posters in West-Germany meant 'strictly
business', with major design elements often being predefined by the
distributors, the German Democratic Republic developed its own,
artistic school of poster design.
The exhibition makes the attempt to show the development of the film
poster in both parts of Germany. We show around 40 original posters,
spanning the years from 1951 to 1990.
Aside from classic titles like LA STRADA, SPARTACUS, and ONCE UPON A
TIME IN THE WEST, the exhibition also shows poster to lesser known
movies, that we found graphically significant.
BLICK RICHTUNG FILM is presented by Galerie filmposter.net, in
cooperation with Galerie Konvex 99.
