I will reiterate my opinion of several weeks ago. I think Scott's guidelines for what is and is not acceptable for posting on MOPO -- as they existed in the MoPo FAQ posted at www.filmfan.com at the beginning of this year -- were excellent. The level of enforcement of those guidelines from Scott (which was hardly ever -- except when things got really out of hand) was also excellent and worked to this list's best advantage and long-term health. Simply having the guidelines published and in place mean anyone could simply mention the fact that they exist when things threatened to get out of hand and that would usually be enough to dampen down whatever current flap was flying.

Whether the post is on-topic or off-Topic, the bottom line is that there *never* is any justification for anyone using excessively foul language in a public forum like ours. It should always be "against the rules" and slapped down when someone thinks their personal fit of pique means more than the atmosphere/words the rest of us have to breathe/read.

Al, while I stand firm on my decision to not act as MoPo moderator or
censor, I'm asking that you please back off a bit on the adult language.
Can't you make your case without the extensive profanity?
