Well, Mike, as I'm in Australia, I'm not going to be much help with framers who
ship to Canada.

If you listed a WTB for something I had, I'd send you a link to it on our
website or let you know we had it, or perhaps
the same title in another format or country of origin. I wouldn't clog up
soemone's mail box with a "sorry, don't have that one."

On the other hand, there are plenty of people who list a WTB that one can
respond to in the affirmative, and while one doesn't expect necessarily a sale
from it, the courtesy of a reply is appreciated.

As this is a forum/list of sorts, and you only use it when it's for something
you want to buy or for information you want and don't take part in any of the
other general poster issues that discussed daily, then perhaps that's why
people are slow to respond, or don't respond.

Lists/forums like this and NSF, APF and MPF etc are only as lively and
interesting as their memberships choose to make them.

MOPO may be useless for you, but it's useful for a lot of other people. As for
the collectors who used to buy and sell on the list, lots went to ebay, or
started theior own auction sites or have their own websites... or are no longer
interested... or perhaps are dead.

Regards,
Phil E.

Subject: [MOPO] MOPO is useless (for me)

Sorry to be dramatic, but I have to vent.

To give some context, I have been collecting movie posters for almost 20
years and have been a member of MOPO at least 5+ years. To be frank, I am
mostly a lurker but post on the list every couple of months depending on my
collecting needs.

The bottom line, in my opinion, things have obviously changed around here.

When I first joined MOPO, I had great success in using the list to prospect
for posters on my want list. I would post a WTB and then would have multiple
dealers AND collectors that would respond. Or, I would post a question or a
comment and then have at least a few helpful responses.

Nowadays, my WTB posts are either totally ignored or I get maybe one response
(thank you Kirby!) from a dealer. While I appreciate the one response, where is
everyone else??? The biggest question is where are the collectors that used to
freely buy and sell on this list??? Are the posters I'm looking for become too
rare??? Have all of the posters I am looking for been hoarded into
collections??? Are the collectors not selling anymore???

And my posts with questions are largely ignored as well.....I asked on the
weekend if anyone knew of poster frame providers that ship to Canada and of
course no one answered.

  Anyways, just frustrated.

  Thanks.
