Pity. One of the few remaining people who spanned the decades from the end
of the silent era, and worked with virtually all of the greats of the
British film industry and one or two Hollywood ones too. Saw him do a talk
about 10 years ago when I suppose he must have been getting on for 90. Quite
remarkable now when I think of it, seemed at least 20 years younger with an
amazing memory. Coincidentally one of the most prominent posters from the
London Underground discovery that Patrick told us about a few days ago was
for The Horse's Mouth, one of his most acclaimed films as director.
