A note of introduction from Geraldine Lippincott
My husband, Charley Lippincott, retired from the movie business with a huge
collection of posters, memorabilia and press books. Some posters were only used
as advance sales material at Cannes, i.e., a Franzetti Conan poster Dino de
Laurentis used for pre-sale marketing. Charley's first commercial job was with
Hitchcock, then he worked on Star Wars, alien, etc. We have a lot of Star Wars
material and are thinking of putting a site up to sell them.
My question is regarding the value of Star Wars posters and restoration.
Some online sites list the posters at very high prices, while I see ebay and
other auctions listing them at far lower. How does one set a fair market price
for these posters?
I'm thinking of sending out a batch of 15-30 posters to get linen-backed and
restored. How do I assess whether the cost of backing is worth the investment?
Is the cost of linen backing worth it for postes that don't have much value?
Thanking you in advance for any help you can give, Geraldine
