Tony,

Great point. CGC cannot possibly charge less than $10 bucks to authenticate, grade and slab something and affix a seal on it. I would have thought at least $20 a more realistic minimum for them, even for something so basic as an 8x10 photo. How can these sellers be making money... or even breaking even... if most of these CGC-slabbed items are selling for around $10.00?

They can't.

So, we need some more answers. Like, what the heck does CGC charge to authenticate, grade and slab a lobby card? If it's only a few bucks, then obviously no one at CGC is spending much time authenticating or grading the item (much less some kind of "CGC committee").

If the cost is much higher, then how can someone afford to pay to have the lower-priced items CGCed and then sell them for less than what they've got in them?

Something us not adding up here.

I have not read all the posts about CGC, this could have been discussed.

There is a seller on Ebay jp-themint, listing tons of stills, all seem to be CGC. They start them at $9.95, and many sell for the starting price. I was wondering how they could do this, but it is really not my business, so I am not going to ask.

It is possible CGC is doing this cheaply to try and get it to be the norm on Ebay or auctions, and new or uninformed buyers will think this is the only way they should buy them.

It is so stupid to spend extra money on minimal items, but can't blame CGC for taking the money if we are willing to give it to them.
Below is a link to an auction I won.
