First of all, with a title like King Kong and, given the great art on this poster, one doesn't have to be a poster collector in order to want to buy and own one of these. And, thus, one doesn't need to have heard of Heritage.
Also, who knows when Heritage or another auction house or auction site might have one up for auction again? Dave had one ready for the buying. For some people, paying twice the price is well worth it in order to have the poster NOW, rather than potentially having to wait years and then bid against others. How weird that you were able to get twice what Heritage could at open auction with a straight Buy-It-Now ploy on Ebay. I guess it shows there are some well-heeled buyers who still cruise Ebay but for some reason don't necessarily follow Heritage auctions. Everyone agrees movie poster collecting is a "small world", but apparently at the same time it is large enough to allow this sort of discrepancy to happen more often than one might think. -- JR David Lieberman wrote: full asking price 1595....roughly twice what one sold for at heritage. Since you only had it on ebay for 12 hours, I presume you listed it with a Buy It Now option (which seems a little dicey to chance with an item like this instead of going for a full bidding war). -- JR David Lieberman wrote: Since this only lasted on ebay for about 12 hours before we sold it, I thought I'd post this in case anyone wanted to see it. I think it is an awesome poster. http://www.cinemasterpieces.com/92010a/kongjul10.jpg Visit the MoPo Mailing List Web Site at www.filmfan.com ___________________________________________________________________ How to UNSUBSCRIBE from the MoPo Mailing List Send a message addressed to: [email protected] In the BODY of your message type: SIGNOFF MOPO-L The author of this message is solely responsible for its content.
