As far as condition, David's was definitely superior: the one on Heritage had
extra folds and a stain on Kong's chest. Some collectors certainly would reject
a piece for those defects.

But there really is no accounting for price differences.

I remember very well that back in 2006 I sold, via Bruce H, a number of old
horror/sci-fi lobby cards. While it went quite well, two disappointments for me
were a SHE-CREATURE #5 and a Sherlock Holmes WOMAN IN GREEN (scene where Watson
is pulling Holmes from the ledge.) Both were in very nice condition.

In an auction two months earlier than mine, the SHE-CREATURE #5 had sold for
$166.43 and mine went for $77.26.

The Holmes went for $465.00 two months prior mine went for $162.45.

I had to wonder what had happened to the under-bidders from the previous
auction! LOL  They had probably spend their allotment on other pieces and were
tapped out when mine came around.

Such is this "hobby".

David,

Thanks. How weird that you were able to get twice what Heritage could
at open auction with a straight Buy-It-Now ploy on Ebay. I guess it
shows there are some well-heeled buyers who still cruise Ebay but for
some reason don't necessarily follow Heritage auctions. Everyone agrees
movie poster collecting is a "small world", but apparently at the same
time it is large enough to allow this sort of discrepancy to happen
more often than one might think.

So what did it go for? Since you only had it
on ebay for 12 hours, I presume you listed it with a Buy It Now option
(which seems a little dicey to chance with an item like this instead of
going for a full bidding war).

Since this only lasted on ebay for about 12 hours before we
sold it, I thought I'd post this in case anyone wanted to see it. I
think it is an awesome poster.
