serious collectors' collections are enhanced because of ebay.
when you see a poster you want, do you really care where you buy it?
of course, you factor in variables such as reputation, etc. how else can
you explain higher prices at some venues?
but most private ebay sellers do provide extra images and friendly
responses to questions. it is ebay for which we have criticism, not really
the
individual sellers. and, yes, when you have a problem needing ebay
assistance it is rarely assistance.
one advantage of calling heritage or emovieposter* or some of my other
MOPO friends, you can have a nice, UNDERSTANDABLE conversation. i have found
ebay's customer service more often than not a total waste of time, thank
god for American Express.
(*i call bruce's office after an auction to authorize the AMEX
payment. bruce has very nice young assistants all of whom were born way after
the date on the posters i tend to buy. i once called a call center outside
the USA and referenced "Jerry Lewis", to which the person said, Jerry who?
But, ebay hires psychologists: they always tell me that they understand
how i feel.)
