Jerry Lewis is a hero to me and always will be. He has helped so many
people over the years and bought many wheel chairs and crutches for so many. I
have a disability and Jerry Lewis was extremely kind to me. I will never
forget his kindness to me. Jerry has major health issues and I wish people
would understand this and take this into account. Yes, please give to MDA. God
Bless Jerry Lewis.

Jerry Lewis story.... a few years back... myabe 10 15?? well Jerry was on
the road doing a live show...

I took my son and said Tommy this will be a day you will not forget as
this is one of the most important entertainers in history...
well I took with us a Clapboard we make as I hoped we could meet him... so
back stage it was hectic and so people wauted out side by his tour Bus,,
so I had Tommy on my shoulders and we waited and waited,, Finally he comes
out...
and they say NO autographs... But well I thought we are giving not
asking for anything but maybe a hello....
so Tommy maybe like 6 or something,,, he must have been Young or me
strong,,:) he says " EXCUSE ME"!!! to Jerry and he looks and says what honey..
and Tommy hands him the clapboard...
well Jerry says '" whats your name Honey" and he says TOMMY and jerry
joke,,, ohh that was my mothers name..:)
so he gets on Bus,,, then his manager Joe comes to us and says whats your
name and address,,,,???
About a month later a manila envelope arrives from Jerry lewis films-
LasVegas.. andit was a signed still to Tommy thanking him..
Also Jerry smiled and saaid o us wow I can take pictures of my daughter
with this... as he had a new young daughetr at the time..

To me it showed that Jerry had a great integrity to go allthe way home and
 remeber Tommy and
aknowledge him.. he could have just never followed up....
So I have repsect for Lewis as a man and as a entertainer and
humanitarian BIGTIME...
Plus nutty proffessor was one of my fave comedys and all his movie make
me feel good when I see them.. a great artist and director that shoudl get
much more attention as he is a true artist.

 MDA Labor Day Telethon
    * Jerry Lewis has been MDA’s number-one volunteer for more than 50
years. Despite battling debilitating pulmonary fibrosis, severe back pain
and a heart attack in recent years, the MDA National Chairman has never
missed a Telethon.
    * No one knows why Jerry Lewis, MDA’s number-one volunteer, chooses
to devote so much time to helping people with neuromuscular diseases. He
feels it isn’t important why he’s involved; rather, it’s important that he’
s involved.
    * Jerry Lewis receives no pay for his tireless year-round work for
MDA. -- Other celebrities who serve as Telethon co-hosts and performers
receive no pay for their efforts either.
    * The first incarnation of what would be the MDA Telethon was in the
form of a series of specials produced in the 1950s, some featuring Jerry
Lewis with partner Dean Martin. Even after the trauma of the Martin and
Lewis breakup in 1956, Lewis remained committed to helping MDA and finding new
ways to garner support for its cause.
    * The first Telethon was held in June 1955 at Carnegie Hall in New
York. The 16 1/2-hour show raised $600,000 for MDA and was broadcast on
DuMont station WABD.
    * The first MDA Labor Day Telethon was broadcast in 1966 by just one
station in New York City. It was the first televised fund-raising event of
its kind to raise more than $1 million.
    * Certainly one of the most unforgettable moments occurred on the
1976 broadcast, when Frank Sinatra brought Lewis' estranged partner, Dean
Martin, onstage for an impromptu reunion. The comedy duo had barely spoken for
20 years. The surprise embrace Lewis received from his old friend provided
one of the most touching moments in the Telethon's remarkable history.
