neither,,,, as the age of stardom has now moved into the realm of
1 hit sensations like those on the talent shows of TV...
they love to discover unknowns that are either long shots or prodigys...
then after a few months,, they are in line with the out of work :
stars"... Unless you are someone like a Pop culture icon .. like a
Betty white... then they allow you a " Free Ride" on the fametrain.
Its been interesting as I saw the end of the star power in my
lifetime... the golden years of Hollywood,, the decades of television
from 50s-80s....
Now its became a series of basic snipits of life where 20 years olds are
the stars as everyone wants the 15 mins of fame... and you have
5 years olds that can sing opera like the best..
But whats funny is most are like Clones... and based on emulation
which could be argued all derived from emulation.... But there is no
sincerity in the subjects as I see it... that seemed to be there in the
earlier actors and subjects ... maybe im wrong,,, But the personalitys
seemed more defined and more genuine to me of people liek Gleason,
Stewart, Bogart, Karloff,Garland, Spencer Tracy said mor
with his eyes then a script could..... and john wayne Carved out a
persona that was almost a way of Americans.....Today I dont see
role models or even ones that stand out as spokesman... Tom Hanks is
probably one thats almost like stewart quality and relates to Joe
american.....But the women and the others... all seem to be very
inconsistant... Deniro and Pacino are great expression actors...
But many of the old Hollywood Guys also projected more IMHO.
Recently the new glut of TV show dvd collections shows a interesting
aspect.. liek Craol Burnet, Carson, and others that some shows have
legs... even the stooges have lasted years,
But Bruce... I dont believe too many peopel exsist that would support a
museum... alone.. even Jackson would not garner attendence.. It would
take a cumulative effort Museum of all the artists to really draw , as
the tatsres are so splintered these days
as so many variables are happening at once.... and most give any
interest a nano sec of study or interest. There is so much data on the
net that peopel just basically suf there entire life without leaving
home it appears to me

If there were two museums side by side, a Liberace museum and a
Britney Spears museum, which one would be mobbed, and which one would
be empty?

belongs in the smithsonian as far as I could imagine...
Or perhaps one of the vegas hotles could build a Liberace Room for
pianists and shows and used the pianos in concerts,,, and build
the artifacts in the LObby.... theres a idea!!!!
Go do it Rich :)

I think it comes down to modern collectors saying something to
the effect of "Bette who?"
Marilyn is more iconic, but I suspect is fast approaching
Liberace status, and were it not for Warhol ("who?") would be
fading much more precipitously.
That said, I actually like the "AAE" one sheet design.
