Unlike the White Zombie "Other Company" one sheet, there are quite a few
examples of "Other Company" 1-Sheets and other size posters--- Warner
Brothers titles in particular, I believe--- that have artwork that
occasionally
rivals the studio artwork. Some really colorful, incredible art---where the
stars actually look like themselves, not some distorted version.
Unfortunately, the "Other Company" posters are usually worth far less than the
official posters from the studio.
Speaking of distorted versions of stars-----lots of years ago I had the
good fortune of "stumbling into" an original Style A one sheet on "It
Happened One Night". I was so chagrined by the way Clark Gable looked on it
(not
a good portrait at all)---so I sold it to another collector. I don't have
many "poster regrets" over the years, but that's one of them..
Needless to say, there are probably many examples of "Other Company"
artwork--although very colorful--just doesn't "get" the portrait of the star
--- (like Gable, I believe, on "It Happened One Night")---but there are
probably just as many instances when it does....
