From: Glenn Taranto <[email protected]> Subject: [MOPO] My Consignments at Heritage and a fond adieu To: [email protected] Date: Thursday, October 7, 2010, 11:06 PM To my friends on MOPO - I hope you will read this entire post. At the very bottom you will find a link to the last vestiges of my poster collection being auctioned this week by Heritage. There are some things there that a few of you have expressed interest in the past. I paid a lot for these posters and many of them will be sold for a song in comparison to the original purchase price. Such are the times or else I made bad purchases. Could be one or the other or a little of both. No need to ask... I will continue to hold on to my Wheeler and Woolsey collection as well as my Richard Dix one sheets from RKO. I'll also continue to add pieces as they come up but since these things come up so rarely it will feel as if I'm not really a part of the hobby any more anyway. Over the last few years collecting posters has become less and less interesting to me. Not sure why it isn't fun anymore but it isn't. I almost feel like I've seen the Emporer without his clothes. You can take that any way you want. I'm not sure I know what it means either. Just a feeling. But the real point of all this is, I've given it some real thought and I decided, after the Heritage auctions end on Sunday, I will unsubscribe to MOPO. (Leaving myself the opportunity to perhaps send a gentle reminder to you all regarding these auctions before they end.) I have made so many very good friends here. (You know who you are.) Most of whom I've never even met in person! I've enjoyed the discourse, learned a lot and rolled my eyes at one or more of the childish rants that have appeared now and again (You also know who you are). Many of you have my email address and I hope you will write from time to time. Especially if you see some odd bit of material I might be able to add to my meager collection or to brag about a nice piece you've acquired. I know I could have done this quietly, I believe it quite possible no would have noticed, but since so many of you have been kind and supportive over the last 10 years, rather than slip off the raft without so much as an au revoir, I thought it proper to give some indication as to my reasons for leaving. Again, thank you all for your kind words, friendship, help and guidance over the years. I hope you all find that elusive piece, and or peace, you seek. sincere best wishes to all, Glenn T.
