Subject: [MOPO] We should all be selling toasters instead!

I love how the seller tries to turn a lemon into lemonade, by insisting the
item's major condition defect is actually a PLUS:

"When I first got this toaster, the broken louver bothered me somewhat. But
over time I have come to appreciate the missing louver not as damage, but part
of the early history of the model C. The damage explains why they quickly
changed the production finishing of the Bakelite base the following month.
Thus, I no longer see it as a detractor, but an important aspect of this
toaster’s production history and a bonus story whenever I show the toaster to
someone. Plus, the other side remains “perfect” and displays beautifully."

I guess when I auction a poster with major staining I should talk about how
that ADDS to the poster's history, and point out how it doesn't show when you
turn the poster over.

But obviously it was a good strategy, as the toaster went for 10,000
(assuming he gets paid). I wonder if this means everyone with old toasters will
start breaking off a piece to gain a "bonus story"?
