For once ebay is actually making a change that I like and think is well
needed.
They are stopping sellers from selling multiples of the same item in 100
different listings.  This goes into effect on 26 October.  For example, I go
into DVDs and find one seller with 50 identical individual listings for 99 cent
3D glasses.  It won't cut the glut but it will thin out some areas of Cr^p.

Subject: [MOPO] fleaBay free listings.. just more clutter

well fleaBay has been desperate for listings, so they've been having free
listings.
No listing fees, just final value fees

sadly, all it has done is add to garbage clutter. for instance, movie posters
-US has 60% more posters listed this week than they have been having for a long
time (almost 9000 listings instead of the 5500 or so listings they had been
having)
but while there have been more listings, there aren't more auctions. You have
every seller listing at set sale prices and all it has done is add to clutter,
plus I think that "true auction listings" are actually fewer than 2 weeks ago

meaning: you can't hardly find items listed at 99 cents or $1 or $5 (like Bruce
does from his site, like I do from my site, etc) for valuable items that you
might actually want to bid on to see if you can get a nice piece for a fair
price

personally, I think it's working against the buyers - last night I almost
stopped looking because it's become tiring to see Revenge of the Jedi posters
at
$1000 or 50s sci-fi at double their true value.

I'll admit, fleaBay made a good judgement to make listings free for the time
being, but with no controls (as if they could actually place any controls) and
dealers just listing store items as auctions to get traffic - it just doesn't
look like a benefit to buyers
