Ahh, I like that Vertigo variation.
Think I had a similar reaction to Out of The Past on initial viewing
after hearing so much about it.
But, isn't charmlessness part of the charm?
So unremittingly downbeat.
And it's Mitchum! And Greer is wonderfully bad.
The poster, other than generally very good likenesses and art:
Fedora, cigarette hanging insouciantly from mouth, Greer in
nightdress, gun hanging from hand.
Off the top of my head, only This Gun for Hire arguably better US Noir
art (?) though I think I prefer the dourness of Out of the Past art.

hallo all
back in May we had an interesting conversation about the different
Vertigo designs across the various posters/ad campaigns. i just
came across this image, is it legit? i've never seen it before.

in other news, i just watched Out Of The Past for the first time,
expecting to love it as much as Double Indemnity, Gilda and Kiss Of
Death. But apart from the first 20 mins, I found it tedious,
charmless and unlikely. Why are posters for this film so expensive,
when it's not even as engaging as Tourneur's Berlin Express (again,
hardly a classic)? I'm very disappointed and confused.
cheers

It looks like the 24-sheet has the standard art (1-sheet, insert,
halves) flipped.
6-sheet is very impressive.
Great stuff.

I meant the posters shown on the pressbook page are all different.

By "all of the posters" do you mean that the 3-sheet and 40x60 have
a different silhouette?
Because the ones on the one-sheet, insert, window card, and both
style half sheets are exactly the same.
And yes - another excellent film Walter.
Can't wait to see what you do next.

Excellent Walter! Do 100 more if you get the time. They are a huge
credit to our hobby.
One little thing I can add is that I always had the sensation that
all the posters for Vertigo were essentially the same (because the
swirl pattern is so overwhelming), but when I saw a pressbook, I was
surprised to discover that all the posters have a completely
different silhouette image at center!
Great work.
