Bruce, it gets even worse for me
after you moved away from Las Vegas, a post office opened up on
Industrial Rd behind the Frontier.
in 1992 when I was getting ready to move, aside from renting an
apartment in advance (I paid rent for 8 months before finally
completing my move) I also rented a post office box which has been my
address for 19 years. The post office was very conventient. It's near
all the casinos, and it was right across the street from em when I
had my gallery. Now I'm just a couple blocks away. So every day we
have been able to pick up & drop off mail very easily
Well, because the USPS got into a contract that Fed-X handles all
Priority, air mail amd Express mail (what an a$$hole that manager was
when he signed that contract) the USPS is now really losing money,
and so that post office is closing in less than a month, even though
it is the only one near the strip where all the business do
everything and tourists as well. The next closest post offices are 3
miles away, so I'm going to have to drive out of the way to pick up
my mail every day (the closest one is away from my warehouse, so it
adds 2 miles to my drive) and they don't know me or Anna there, so
until they do, I'll have to do drop off and do mailing myself where I
have to give a check for shipping. I won't be able to send Anna with my check.
I've done the paperwork and it looks like they just added something
along the lines of $2500-3500 to my expenses in gas, hourly wages and
personal time. Maybe even more.
Corporate America just keep screwing consumers. and the hits just
keep on coming

That's about the only advantage to being in dull-as-dishwater West
Plains rather than Sin City. Everywhere in the U.S. is about the
same distance away.
I guess I have to look into raising MY rates too. Bummer. Every
extra dollar spent on shipping is a dollar less spent on posters.

It's a new rate sheet for USPS.
They've been raising the rates regularly now and I haven't increased
my rates in 2 years, which means I've been eating the increases
since then, which are substantial and have been eating into my auction sales.
The biggest change is that I have had to institute 4 "Zones" for USA
shipping and tweaked the number of posters we can send you for those prices.

Obviously, being in Las Vegas, some states are closer and many are
farther distance wise and the USPS rates for New York (for instance)
have a major change from $9.00 to $11.00, but California & near
states have a reduction from $9.00 to $8.00
The initial # of posters we can send for the base rate has not
changed, but the secondary charges for overweight shipments have a
small reduction in the # of posters for each added increment
(Currently, the second increment is 7 one sheets. It will be 6 one
sheets. It was 24 lobby cards, it will be 20)
I have not yet edited the International rates which have increased
sharply in the most recent rate increase by the USPS. I expect to be
finishing the rate sheet this weekend.
We may also be adding an additional service for USA bidders. It's
possible I may be able to send US packages First Class instead of
Priority Mail for a small decrease in rates. I am currently studying
this to see if it can be an effective way to decrease your costs as buyers
These rates will go into effect AFTER the current auction of 30x40s
(for which I need to add new rates) and will be for all shipments
after February 7th that are paid after that date. Anyone wishing to
lock in the current rates for shipments before the increase takes
place, please pay me for your auctions by February 7th, or you will
be paying the new rates for your shipments
