Except of course for the fact that Marvel had an entire warehouse that was filled with this artwork for more than 20 years before they finally started giving it back to the artists (and some "disappeared" between when they inventoried it and when it was returned), and of course the original artwork to that first Spider-man story was donated to the Smithsonian a couple of years go.

Lee said, given the price paid for the issue, "I wish had saved my old Spider-Man books." Back in the early 1960s, there was never any thought of saving extra issues or the original artwork that made up comics because there was no space to store the artwork or books sent back by the printer. "So if someone came to deliver our lunch or sandwiches or something, before he'd left we'd say 'Hey, fella! You want to take these books with you or this artwork with you?'" Lee said. "We were giving all that stuff away. Nobody thought to save these books." Jeff On Mar 10, 2011, at 9:57 AM, Todd Spoor wrote: Here another record price for a Spider-Man comic book. It is interesting in this down market we keep seeing record prices for certain rare material that is in exceptional condition. http://movies.yahoo.com/news/movies.ap.org/spider-man39s-debut-comic-sells-for-1.1-million Regards Todd Spoor Visit the MoPo Mailing List Web Site at www.filmfan.com ___________________________________________________________________ How to UNSUBSCRIBE from the MoPo Mailing List Send a message addressed to: [email protected] In the BODY of your message type: SIGNOFF MOPO-L The author of this message is solely responsible for its content.
