I have been on ebay now for just under 15 years and have seen a ton of
changes.
A few good but most not to my benefit.  I have tried other venues including
CQOut (in the UK) and iOffer to just name a couple.  The thing I liked about
those two were that they did not charge a posting fee and you only paid fees on
items that sold.  The one thing missing with them was customer traffic.  I had
over 1,000 items listed on CQOut and sold 4 in about 2 years so it wasn't worth
the trouble listing them.  What did they recomment for me to do to increase
sales?  List more items.....  As much as I wanted to get away from ebay I just
found that even with the fees I was making money listing there and not sitting
around hoping someone would stumble across the site.  I am not strictly a movie
collectible seller so I need a site where I can offer an assortment of
collectibles from stills, lobby cards, stamps, music memorabilia, books and
more.  I have my own site but again the traffic is a tiny fraction of what ebay
can offer so I post on ebay and then introduce my buyers to my own website for
additional sales.

Ebay is currently my best option so hate her as I may....  I will continue
to list.

Ebay is definitely worth doing if you tweak it correctly. Doing a lot of
expensive auctions, never worked for me. I use Ebay to establish a base of
customers and then I bring them into my own website which of course has no fees
or commissions. I also don;t like spending a tremendous amount of time listing
items manually. I have a dbase and I load auctions from my dbase, meaning I
only
have to catalogue items once throughout their lifetime. I know people who
manually list itmes on Ebay and other services and it's way too time-consuming
and tedious for me to do that.  You've got to play with it for a while and see
what works for you. There are other selling boards and services out there but
they haven't been profitable or advantageous for me.  FRANC
