I had the grand pleasure of interviewing Dolores for a two-part article
for Filmfax. What a classy lady, smart enough to know how, why, and when
to re-invent herself, using her own musical talents and her sharp eyes
(and ears!) for other star-quality figures like Tanya Tucker and
Johnny Rivers. She was SO nice and helpful to me, and we hung out for
hours with her then-husband Phillip at one of the Courts shows in
Burbank. She knew Woods' films sucked, but she loved him for his drive
and enthusiasm. "But those damned sweaters.....", she'd say, voice
trailing off. HATED the way she was portrayed by Sarah Jessica Parker
(or Sarah "Jurassic" Parker, as Ms. Fuller called her.
No doubt Dolores is singing "Do the Clam", a song she wrote for Elvis,
with the KIng at this very moment. She was a great broad and class all
the way. She even slipped me a nekkid 8 X 10 of her that Ed took of her
back in the day. Now THAT'S class!!!! Mrs. Douglass' little boy felt
like the uber-nerd that Sunday in Burbank!!!!

I missed this one...."Glen or Glenda" actress Dolores Fuller passed
away on May 9^th at the age of 88. I have to say /New York Times/
reporter Margalit Fox's lead on this obit is really something special...
Dolores Fuller, the muse, girlfriend, leading lady and involuntary
costumer of Ed Wood Jr., the cross-dressing writer and director of
films so awful they have a stupefying, apocalyptic beauty, died on
Monday at her home in Las Vegas. She was 88.
She and her angora sweater will never be forgotten.

For fans of films "so awful they have a stupefying, apocalyptic
beauty" this is a very sad day.
