A collector on MoviePostersForum suggested I come to the MoPo community for
advice.

I have chanced upon a 1934 movie poster of Cheating Cheaters starring Fay Wray.

I acquired a large oak-framed antique mirror and decided to refinish the wood.
When I removed the back-panel I discovered this poster sandwiched between the
mirror and back-panel.

Actually, three of these posters had been taped together (with Piggly Wiggly
tape) to achieve the necessary length. The top and bottom posters had been
trimmed to fit the shape of the mirror. This poster is the one in the middle
and seems to be whole.

It occurred to me the poster might be restorable. I carefully cut the sections
of tape that held this poster to the other two posters, and did it in such a
way that this poster is undisturbed with the tape still in place. I will leave
it to an expert to remove the tape.

I spent many hours searching the internet and did not find an image or
description of this poster. I found a few other posters, lobby cards, magazine
pages, etc. for Cheating Cheaters but not this duo-tone poster.

Can someone recommend a guidebook or catalog where I can look up the poster to
learn more? Or perhaps a collector who can tell more about it?

I think proper restoration and conservation can bring the poster close to its
original glory, but before undertaking those steps its seems prudent to figure
out whether it has investment potential or whether I'd be doing it just for
personal satisfaction.

The dimensions are ~ 19 x 14 inches so I figure it's a Window Card. It is made
out of very heavy material -- more like card stock than poster paper.

The Piggly Wiggly tape itself is kind of interesting and adds a little
"provenance" to the poster's history. It turns out that the Rivoli Theatre
(opened ~ 1920-1924, operated through the 1950s) and the Piggly Wiggly store
were located within a few blocks of each other on the same street. One might
conclude that the poster was originally displayed at the Rivoli, or perhaps at
the Piggly Wiggly if the theatre advertised there with a "Now Playing" display.

Fay Wray is iconic and her image in this poster is quite striking. I'm grateful
for any comments and advice concerning this find.

Thanks -Ron
