*WE GOT MAIL! Here are 11 e-mails we received over the past few weeks*
1) "I just want to thank you once again for your fabulous method of packing
which ensured that my four stills arrived in absolutely pristine condition.
What a contrast with a still I received from another seller which turned up
looking like a roadkill owing to quite insufficient packaging!"
*RESPONSE FROM BRUCE:* Thanks for letting us know. Some people complain
that we "over pack", but we would rather get that complaint than have damage
due to poor packaging, like what you describe, which happens all too often,
even with long time sellers, and sometimes it seems the reason for it is
that they use free or low cost inferior packing material.
2) " I just received set of bonus books from you. This is my third set. I
enjoy giving them to my friends. They bring back great memories!"
*RESPONSE FROM BRUCE: *We know that lots of the people who get our
books already have them, but they really do make fun gifts for friends, and
they are surely something they will not have seen before. Thanks for helping
others learn about all the cool movie posters of the past! Remember that we
are fast running out of many titles, so over the coming months you will see
fewer bonus offers, and there will be fewer books in each bonus, so get them
now while you still can!
3) "I had a problem with your new Auction History database, and I contacted
you and you suggested I filterthe results for "title only" and it worked
great. I also like the fact that the results are automatically programmed to
be chronological, descending by date. It'll still be awhile before I get
used to this new system, but it seems to be good.
Honestly the only other comment I'd make is that the icons and
filtering options get to be a bit much. Going back to the image archive once
again, it's nice to be able to just see the results in descending order by
date, and just click on each one to see what the sale price was. Simple,
easy. But being able to see enlarged images in these results outweighs the
old image archive, so it'll be good to use. I just love the ease of doing
something that I'm used to, so don't go by me, lol. I can see that this new
system is much better than having the old image and sales results archives
separate.
And thanks for allowing us clients to have an input on it. I can see
how seriously you guys take our comments and that's really great. It's just
another reason why you guys far outshine any other poster auction or
dealer!"
*RESPONSE FROM PHIL: *Thanks. I'm glad it has been improved since we
first announced it a month ago. I understand a big concern can be that it
becomes "too powerful" to the point of appearing cluttered. For that reason,
I think we are about done adding bells and whistles. One of our next goals
is to add a separate "Advanced Search" page that allows for anything that is
not easy to do through the regular search.
I also appreciate your kind words of praise. I've always thought that
the customer is the most important people any business should talk to when
developing something of which the customer will be the primary user. Any
other approach seems silly. I just feel fortunate that we have customers
like yourself who take the time to really dig in and give their input.
4) "What happened to the *LOG IN* button? I used to click on it several
times a day to check the 20 items I am watching. But now, the only way I can
do it is to click on one of your 3 auctions pictured items and then I must
add it to my watch list and the list then shows up and then I must delete
the item I clicked on to get there and remove it. This is time consuming and
a * BIG* nuisance. Please bring back the LOG IN button on your site."
*RESPONSE FROM PHIL: *I assume you are referring to the "Log In" link
on our homepage that was above the three images from the galleries? We had a
yellow block with various links in there but realized that all of these
links appeared elsewhere, so we felt it was taking up unnecessary space on
the homepage and removed that yellow block of links. I hope you can be
understanding that the site will need to evolve over time in ways similar to
this, but we will always be sure it evolves instead of loses things
completely.
So the question is, where is the other Log In link? It is in three main
locations:
1) From our homepage, look above our logo to the left. There are three
links: "Log In | Register | Members Area".
2) In our website's menu (below our logo) hold your mouse over the
"Auctions" heading, and look about half way down where another "Log In" link
appears.
3) Finally, if you are at the top of a gallery, there is a gold colored Log
In box at right below our menu. The best thing about this Log In box is it
keeps you right on the gallery so you won't even have to click back once you
are signed in. Because you don't have to click back, this is my favorite way
for customers to log in.
Incidentally, we are going to add that gold Log In box to the homepage
in the same area you used to click "Log In", so hopefully that will make it
more intuitive, so there will soon be this 4th way to Log In.
This also shows the problem of "unintended consequences" that occurs so
often when maintaining or improving a website. You make a tiny change in one
location, only to later discover it negatively impacted other areas of the
site. Please continue to be understanding of these "glitches" when they
occur, and be sure to e-mail us directly when you first discover them, so we
can quickly correct them!
5) "I like your auctions, but I'd like the ability to search all your
current auctions for only bulk lots or for only one sheet. How do I do
this?"
*RESPONSE FROM PHIL:* Here is the easiest way to do this:
1) Go to our "All Auctions Gallery" (click "Auctions" in our website's menu
or go directly there: * http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/all.html*.
2) Type "bulk lot" or "one-sheet" (or even "1sh") in the search box and
click "Search".
3) The results displayed on the next page should be what you are looking
for, but please note that you may get a few extra results because this is a
keyword search. For example, if we were currently auctioning a Turkish
*APOCALYPSE
NOW*, it would show up in a one-sheet search, because it is described as a
"Turkish one-sheet". Please ignore those additional results or use my next
suggestion...
You can also try searching with "title:" to limit the results to solely
what is in the title of the auctions. For instance, if you searched for
"title:1sh", you would be able to filter out that Turkish * APOCALYPSE
NOW*because "1sh" only appears within the description. This is a very
useful
tool for when you get many more results than were intended.
You also should consider using our our Want List feature, so you will
be automatically notified when we again have any type of item which
interests you. Use our Want List feature here: *
https://www.emovieposter.com/members/wantlist.php*.
I hope this is clear and helpful. If you have any further questions,
let me know.
6) "You truly are offering a fabulous experience because of the overall
flawless way your team and yourselves treated me, a relatively new customer
(and hopefully soon to become a very regular one - if my finances allow me
to). Every e-mail I have sent has been replied so quickly. Every poster I
received is perfectly packaged. Your friendly communication and ultimate
professionalism is a standard that all the other auction houses should
aspire!"
*RESPONSE FROM BRUCE: *It is *SO* nice to get this kind of feedback. We
really do go out of our way to make our auctions stand out from every other
set of auctions, and it is nice to know that it is appreciated so much!
7) "I just have to comment that the e-mails you all send out are way too
wordy! If you were to cut this text in half I would still not want to read
all of it. I suggest you find a way to convey the essence of your content in
a much, much, simpler manner. Otherwise I suspect your customers (like me)
will want to just stop receiving these messages all together. I mean
seriously -- who has time to read all this?"
*RESPONSE FROM BRUCE: *Thanks!
8) "I received an e-mail from your company that made it sound like I owed
two separate shipping charges for two items that could be combined, and I
sent your company an inquiry about it, and I received a reply from both a
Mr. Phillip Wages, and also another e-mail from Angie at
emovieposter.comregarding the same subject.
Thank you both for your prompt responses to my e-mail inquiry. I have
to admit I am impressed with emovieposter.com's level of customer service;
not simply because a particular billing error was corrected as soon as it
was brought to management's attention, but more importantly from a
consumer's perspective, how emovieposter.com communicated with a customer.
I'm forwarding a copy of the email you have requested. In the meantime,
I will pay for my two winning bids using PayPal. Thank you again for all
your work, and please do me the favor of passing along my appreciation to
both Angie and Phillip."
*RESPONSE FROM BRUCE: *Thanks! We are fortunate to have such a talented
group of people working for us that can handle any issue that comes up.
Thanks for forwarding the e-mail. It looks to me like the e-mail you
received (a stock confirmation e-mail that goes to all buyers) is
confusingly worded, and we will adjust the wording so it is more clearly. In
any event, know that the total for shipping of your order is indeed only one
shipping charge (because we can combine the items) and we will be sure to
process it as such.
9) "I am the fellow who found the hole-in-the-wall lobby cards you recently
auctioned. I found you on the Internet, and to be honest, my wife was
worried about sending them to a total stranger, and said when I shipped them
to you, that we will probably never hear from you again!
Its nice to know there are still honest people with integrity out
there. I wanted to let you know what we have done with some of this "found"
money. We have purchased a new dog, English setter pointer, a 44 magnum, a
log swing, and in the future a new diamond ring for my wife.
On the last day of both sets of auctions I was on the phone with my
son, my brother and my best friend, who has been an antique dealer his whole
life. We were all having a cold drink and acting like someone we knew was
scoring a hundred yard touchdown. I can't thank you enough, I tell everyone
about emovieposter.com!"
*RESPONSE FROM BRUCE: *Thank you so much for this wonderful e-mail. It
really brightened my day! The best part of it is that now you can always
tell your wife that she should listen to you, because she was completely
wrong and you were completely right (but you probably shouldn't really do
that!).
10) "You recently sent me an e-mail informing me that you were auditing past
invoices and discovered I had overpaid for shipping on an invoice by $2.70,
and that you had refunded me that amount by PayPal. I have spent thousands
with you, but this really touched me. Your operation just continues to get
more awesome!"
*RESPONSE FROM BRUCE: *Thanks for your kind words! We never want to
make money on a shipping fee, so it is our pleasure to refund when we
discover we have accidentally overcharged.
11) "I just won 9 cool stills from you. You have my details so send them
when you can. Thanks once again for your always great service. I don't think
I ever thank you enough for what a really marvelous service you provide
there!"
*RESPONSE FROM BRUCE: *Thanks for your continued praise! We are
fortunate to have many talented and detail-oriented employees who make our
system work so well. I think you will be very pleased with the stills you
purchased once you receive them, because they really *ARE* super cool!
