What we may have been witnessing these past 10-15 years is the rise of the individual museum / archive - The person that is the keenest on a particular type of thing who spends and gets the best collection of it and goes to the trouble to organize - And display - The internet being the venue for the new age of museums - Virtual Museum Row if you like. Executive Studio mentality actually depends on the private sector to care for certain things - like silent film - books (remember those) and history, that it has no budget to pursue.
The future is the private archive - your goodies up on line for all to see - annotated by the owner. Alan Adler On Jun 2, 2011, at 6:17 PM, Irvin J.
