she had a casino with an exhibit inside

but she had a few issues. one was that the building wasn't on the Strip. It was near the Strip, but by the convention center and it had no outside "flash" at all and it wasn't a "locals casino". The intent was to get conventioneers and tourists to drop in, but without any real flash, it was doomed on that level. You need locals in Las Vegas.. I had eaten at Pieros a couple times which is right next door and walked past the casino many many times, but I don't think I ever went in myself. It was a boring exterior and the building was a poor choice

secondly, her husband at the time was a bad news gambler, a critter that Las Vegas is known for. He was always gambling away any profits she may have been able to gather and reportedly lost millions within the short 2-3 years the casino was open. Too bad he was losing the money at other casinos and then later when he was losing at Debbie's casino, it being run by a contractor and only major profits were to be shared with Debbie at that point, but there were none.

all that was left was doom and gloom.

Rich,
Didn't Debbie R manage to set up a museum in your neck of the woods for a few years, before it went bust? Unfortunately, the 1st time I went to Vegas the museum didn't exist yet, and by the 2nd time it had closed down. Just my luck. (Makes me wonder how the Liberace museum managed to last so long tho.) I too am amazed at how often Hollywood neglects its own history. But I guess it's a similar story around the world, with a few notable exceptions like Scorcese's preservation efforts and that German film museum initiative that Cory forwarded the other day.
