Sheesh....why don't you just ask the dealer for a partial refund and keep
the damn poster. This isn't rocket science. So much whining and
complaining. Either keep the poster or tell the seller you expect him to pay
your
cost for shipping it back. He sounds like a reasonable person. What's the
problem here? Things like this happen on eBay all the time. You've gotten
solutions from a bunch of different sources, but it seems as if you'd rather
just sit there and complain.....

how much in value could a $40 poster decrease?

was this insert folded in quarters as normal, and then folded in half
again (about a 5" x 14" rectangle)? is that how it got 4 extra folds?
or are the extra folds just where it was originally folded and then
sloppily folded back creating an extra?

when i first wrote, i thought people might comment about the decrease in
value due to 4 extra folds.

over the last year, i was outbid twice......once with a bidding
war------on bruce's site for an insert. i recall, the poster selling at
bruce's site
for about 130 amd 180. (and you know his pictures are clear and he adds
words when there are extra folds)

a few months ago, an ebay seller...........very honest------------listed
the same insert for 69.99. he disclosed 4 extra folds. you can also see
the folds in the images. the poster never sold at 69.99. i would have
grabbed it at that price, had there been no extra folds. the seller has
re-listed the poster at a very, very low start price. KNOWING THE DEFECT,
which
the seller disclosed both in words and photographs, this time will sell. i
will be a bidder. but i wouldn't want to bid, win, and then open a
package and be surprised.

we bid based on condition. when condition is not disclosed, prices get
inflated.

as to your questions rich------------i paid high for the title......it did
not sell for a long time. so people believing it was near mint as i did,
dint think it was a good value. now, with this defect, it is worth a lot
less................... and seller is not cooperating in the return. i am
about to just end it, take my loss...........

John, I disagree

if a seller has mis-described or not properly reported condition issues
that should be noted if not visible, then I believe (as I'm sure does Bruce,
Sean and most dealers) that I should be paying return shipping - unless
some other deal was worked out like a small discount, replacement etc.

the buyer might not have bid as much or at all if the condition was
properly described, so that would on my head, not my customer's.

if a seller on ebay tells me he won't accept returns for instance under
any circumstances, I don't care if he has a Double Indemnity 1 sheet up
that's about to close for $1000. I'm not bidding, because I'm not going to
consider putting up with any bullshyte

similarly, if the seller says I accept returns if I incorrectly described,
but you pay shipping and I will not refund your other shipping either..
I'm telling that dealer to kiss my lily white a$$ and I'm taking my dollars
elsewhere

If a buyer after receipt says "Hey, you didn't do anything wrong, but I
find that I don't like this piece as much as I thought I might and I would
like to return it", I happily take return, but shipping in neither direction
will be refunded. I will not take any other action against the buyer. he
may bid freely in the future.

if the buyer after receipt says "you f*cking suck and I want to return
this".. well that gets back to the lily white thingy

Just another point about this. The issue seems to be about whether the
seller should pay for return shipping. eBay actually requires all sellers to
specify a return policy and also to indicate who pays for the poster to be
sent back. Surely it should be just a case of checking the sellers policy
which is clearly displayed in the listing. If the listing says that the
seller won't pay for return shipping then they shouldnt be expected to change
their policy.

Michael

are you telling me that the dealer wouldn't pay for your shipping cost

or

that maybe he got irritated at you after your messages/MoPo and told you
to f*ck off?

or

are you saying you feel you got a good enough price in buying it that you
don't want to return it?

It makes a world of difference which of these 3 situations is the answer

if the latter is the case Michael, then I don't see why you say you were
"burnt" or that you will "take a hit"

if the latter is not the case, then something isn't right

folds.

i was burnt and disappointed in this transaction.........

i repeat: the picture of the poster on ebay looks mint....even hard to
see the studio folds. ....no hint of extra fold on the photo.......but
offensive in person.

looks like i will take a hit on this one, because when i sell it, i will
disclose the defects.

easy for those who don't get slapped to say to the other to turn the other

Fascinating is all I can say.

This buyer who complained so loudly has now gone completely silent and
turned his mute button on. Why?

And with still no links to this incorrectly described (4 4 4 folded)
poster, and no response to those that questioned, criticized and
commented on his premature outburst towards a seller who was/is
willing to work with him-- speaks volumes about this individual's own
integrity and transparency.

I see he also occasionally lists a number of posters for sale on ebay,
with every color in the rainbow used in the descriptive fonts
(psychedelic trip?). Let's just hope that each and every flaw on those
posters have been accurately disclosed. I am willing to bet that there
are small imperfections that have not been seen and therefore, not
disclosed.

And if someone found an undisclosed flaw and wanted to return a
purchased poster to him, would this seller pay for return shipping
and/or take a price reduction decided by the unhappy buyer?
