about 25 years ago Stephen Fishler and I bought a deal together (one
of many). some great golden age comics and a large pile of original
comic strip art circa 1915-1937. among this material was a stack of
200 pieces by James Swinnerton.
Swinnerton was diagnosed with TB at some point and the Doctor told
him the air in Arizona would good for him, so he packed his backs &
took his family West. The guy was a traveler. In a time period
between 1921 & 1927 he travelled the West extensively, from Arizona
to NM to Hearst Castle (he was a close friend of Mr Hearst for whom
he had been working for 20 years.
well on these travels, he was still drawing his daily comic strip.
Naturally, these needed to be mailed in.
Many of them had stamps on the back with an address to Leo McManus at
King Features Syndicate in NYC, all written in Swin's hand. We even
had 6 dailies (a week's printing) stapled together with the strips
facing in, with the address on the outside. The return address would
tell you where Swin was when he sent them too
I think I still have one left with this feature

Has anyone ever come across any poster that exhibits actual postage
stamps and written addresses on the back of the poster?
I find it hard to believe that this practice was actually used with
the USPS 50+ years ago.
I have 2 posters at an online auction site that exhibit addresses
and stamps affixed on poster reverse:

King Kong 1 sheet
