Throughout the mid to late 80's, I had innumerable run-ins with Noel
Schiff. On one occasion, he'd committed to purchase a "Return Of Dr. X"
(Bogart) 1/2 Sheet from me for $1600 (as far as I recall, that was the
amount).
At the time, I was between jobs and needed the money to pay my rent for the
month. Noel assured me he'd have the money to me by the 1st. Well...the
1st came and went...so I gave Noel the benefit of the doubt and didn't call
him till the 4th. When I got him on the phone, I remember asking him
frantically if he'd sent the $1600 he'd promised me...that I desperately
needed
it to pay my rent.
"Oh..", he replied, matter-of-factly, "I forgot to tell you....I decided
that I don't want the poster..."
Of course, I went ballistic, calling him many, many choice names....then
wrapping it up with the statement:
"I never, ever want to hear your voice on my phone again!"
The only positive thing that came out of that entire scenario back in
1986, maybe 1987...is that good old Noel at least honored my request and I
never, ever spoke with him again....
An interesting side-note...I was wandering around Google and discovered
that Noel Schiff apparently had an alter-ego named "Chicago Slim" who was
the front man for a blues band in Chicago. Here's a link to Noel and his
band performing back in 1980: _http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSGr6rrtVaI_

Hey, he might have been one of the biggest a-holes I ever met, but that
a-hole could play a pretty mean harp...
