Rich,
On the Criterion Forum, the guy who runs the Master of Cinema company in the
UK has stated there would first be a DVD release in Germany, then the UK, then
I assume the US. M.O.C. announced a release for their version on DVD back in
2005 but it never materialize and it appears they are waiting for the HD
version.

I really like the M.O.C. releases as they are 99.9% of the time better looking
than Kino and have the original title cards, with subtitles. Kino usually
translates everything which for me, kind of takes a bit away from the
presentation. You can check their catalog here:
http://eurekavideo.co.uk/moc/catalogue/ . They are a bit pricey and shipping
them here is a pain, but it's sometimes worth it.
