Most auction houses will take anything and everything they are offered, if the item(s) in question meets their minimum valuation. That is one of the reasons we see the same items over and over in major auction after major auction (that, and because often the item did not reach a secret reserve, even though it was a pretend no reserve auction, or because it was bought back by the owner or auction house/owner, which is legal at some auctions, etc).
But at eMoviePoster.com, we not only want to make money auctioning items, but we *ALSO *want our consignors to be happy with their results, so we regularly turn away consignments we feel have been "over-exposed". Recently, a consignor offered an item they paid many hundreds of dollars for (at another auction) and I felt they might well get half (or less) of what they paid for that item if it were auctioned now. So I told them that, and said that if they still wanted to auction it, fine, but I wanted them to know my honest opinion. They replied as follows: "Thank you for your honest assessment. That is why I think you are so successful at this, you are honest with your customers. My wife was nervous when we sent you all our other posters. I explained to her that you had a great reputation and you literally wrote the book on movie poster prices. *She agreed and has been happy with the results*. I am looking forward to more of our other consignments showing up in your auctions." We look out for our consignors! -- Bruce Hershenson and the other 26 members of the eMoviePoster.com team P.O.
