Mopo-ettes, Mopo-ites and all the ships at sea! Just watched Rodan on Turner for an I've-lost-count lifetime total. But, boy, I still love that movie! The Japanese penchant for fireworks, miniatures and dragons created maybe not the perfect storm in every Toho feature, but plenty of great waves for a kid to eyeball surf! Giant monsters have been in my blood since I was 8 and my folks and I passed Godzilla playing in Greensboro, N.C. - We had just left nearby Asheboro, my home town, for an all-night ride to visit my grandmother in Baltimore. When my folks wouldn't stop, I started wailing so loudly they had to go back and wait in the car for 2 hours while I went to the movies! So that was just about the beginning of my love of very big, very small and Japanese - and I will always be grateful to my parents for either giving in to - or supporting my addictions - bad and otherwise.
Just thought I would let anyone interested know that the Rodan stills I got from the North 21 Drive-in when that title played there in 1957 are up for sale on my site - Along with a lot of other cool stuff I've saved like religious objects over the decades. Somehow, I've internalized most of it and feel like passing along my warehouse of torches to other fans - supporting another bad habit writing screenplays - while I'm at it. I'm in the middle of a SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE sale with nearly 200 more auctions starting between 9 and 10 this Sat. morning. BID and BIN with confidence and Enjoy!
