Here is an example: I purchased a three sheet a week or so ago at auction for 12.50 The seller is charging $15.50 for postage from the USA to Australia and he packs very well. Total cost is $28.00
eBay will charge a final value fee of 9% of the 28.00 which is 2.50. Paypal will also take a percentage and there is probably a listing fee to add to that. I am guessing that the actual cost of postage will be higher than 15.00, particularly if the item is trackable so you have to wonder if was worthwhile bothering to sell the item in the first place. The final value commission fee is based on the total that is charged on the transaction so if a seller gets 10.00 for an auction item and charges 10.00 postage, eBay calculates their commission fee on the total of 20.00. This is one reason why many sellers have had to put their postage charges up in recent times. I am curious to hear if any other sellers were unaware of this.
