Wasn't it on MOPO that someone said that modern posters were worthless?  I
would say $159 is not bad for a 2003 movie poster.

Subject: [MOPO] REVISED: Bogus "Lost in Translation" posters & the Seller's
"Hall of Shame."

REVISED, discard previous.  (Image re-sized to fit window.)

* In Bruce's e-mail club message this week, there's an article and a link to a
site that until now, I'd never heard of.  It's hosted by a lawyer named Mel
Hutson and it's called MoviePosterCollectors.com.

* While it features a familiar list of titles associated with known bootleg
posters, e.g., Star Wars, Pulp Fiction, The Matrix, Jaws, minty white inserts,
etc., it also lists other titles I didn't know had been counterfeited, such as
2003's Oscar-winner, "Lost in Translation" (Scarlett Johansson version);
detailed info at link below:

http://www.moviepostercollectors.com/MPC_Authentication_Lost_In_Translation.html

* Parenthetically, while Bruce has a scarce/authentic double-sided original
"Translation" closing later today (Sunday) at...

http://auctions.emovieposter.com/Bidding.taf?_function=detail&Auction_uid1=2605000

...the existence of forged one-sheets for "Translation" being sold as originals
by unscrupulous dealers - is disheartening.  (It's one of the few contemporary
titles I own that's housed in a Sue Heim frame.  I double-checked my
single-sided version with the site and it's original.)

* I think everyone should check their 1970s-to-present inventory with the
titles listed on this site.  It's also among the most daring - because it
boldly identifies sellers of bogus posters by name.  The link to the site's
"sellers' hall of shame" is below:
